Million Hearts® Educational Modules

The National Interprofessional Education and Practice Consortium to Advance Million Hearts® is growing and making an impact. A Million Hearts® educational module constructed by The Ohio State University’s Colleges of Nursing, Medicine and Pharmacy is free and online to assist with education and implementation of the DHHS Million Hearts® initiative. The Million Hearts® educational module was designed for interdisciplinary team work by health care professionals and health care professionals’ students.

More than 190 organizations across the country have accessed and are using the educational module with over 100,000 Americans already screened and/or educated about the 'ABCS' of the Million Hearts® initiative. The goals of the educational module are to educate healthcare professional students and healthcare professionals on the Million Hearts® initiative, increase Million Hearts screenings and education nationwide and improve population cardiovascular health. Please join us in the National Interprofessional Education and Practice Consortium to Advance Million Hearts® and prevent one million cardiovascular events by 2027.

Fellowship Module

The Million Hearts® Fellowship educational module is a free, online module that was designed by The Ohio State University's Colleges of Nursing, Pharmacy and Medicine to assist with the education and implementation of the Million Hearts® initiative. The Million Hearts® fellowship module was designed for interdisciplinary teamwork by health sciences' students and healthcare professionals. The goal is to teach students and health care professionals how to conduct, interpret, and triage a Million Hearts® screenings in the community setting.

The educational module has 4 easy steps:

  1. Individuals watch a series of five online lectures.
  2. Individuals complete Million Hearts® community screenings.
  3. Individuals input de-identified data from the screenings into an online survey.
  4. Individuals take a post-test and become certified as a Million Hearts® Fellow and receive a certificate.

Steps to Access the Online Million Hearts Fellowship Educational Module:

  1. Visit go.osu.edu/millionhearts
  2. Select Million Hearts® Fellow from the course list
  3. Select create new account if you are a new user or login with your existing account if you are a returning user.
  4. If you are registering as a new user you will receive an email with a confirmation link to verify you have used a valid email address. After receiving this e-mail, please click on the link to activate your account.

Community Ambassador Module

The Million Hearts® Community Ambassador educational module has been developed by The Ohio State University College of Nursing for community outreach. The Million Hearts® Community Ambassador educational module is a streamlined version of the Fellowship module, designed for individuals with limited training in health care. The goal of the educational module is to train community members on how to complete and interpret Million Hearts® screenings.

The educational module includes a four-step process similar to the four steps created for the Million Hearts® Fellowship (please see above). Community Ambassadors typically also have a formal training session.

Steps to Access the Community Ambassador Module:

  2. Select Community Ambassador Program from the course list
