Million Hearts® Fellowship educates students and community members across the country
The National Interprofessional Education and Practice Consortium to Advance Million Hearts® (NIEPCAMH), founded in 2013 by Dr. Bernadette Melnyk, Vice President for Health Promotion and Chief Wellness Officer at Ohio State, is growing and making an impact. It is comprised of over 190 universities and organizations across the nation who are collaborating to improve population cardiovascular health and wellbeing. As part of the NIEPCAMH, a Million Hearts® educational module constructed by The Ohio State University’s Colleges of Nursing, Medicine and Pharmacy is free and online to assist with education and implementation of the DHHS Million Hearts initiative. The Million Hearts® educational module was designed for transdisciplinary team work by healthcare professionals and healthcare professionals’ students.
Universities and organizations have accessed and are using the educational module with over 100,000 Americans already screened and/or educated about the ABCs of the Million Hearts initiative. The goals of the educational module are to educate healthcare professional students and healthcare professionals on the Million Hearts® initiative, increase Million Hearts screenings and education nationwide, and improve population cardiovascular health. Please join us in the National Interprofessional Education and Practice Consortium to Advance Million Hearts and prevent one million heart attacks and strokes.
