How long has your team been working as a collaborative Buckeye Wellness Innovator group?

More than two years

 

Approximately how many people are in your department, unit, building, or college?
We have 70 people in our department

 

Regarding your department or unit's wellness efforts, which of the nine dimensions of wellness has your team addressed?

Describe one successful activity that your team planned around the nine dimensions of wellness.

I organized a group health coaching program for CEMAS and invited others from nearby research facilities on west-campus. The topic focused on tips and planning for meal preparation. It was informative and a great way to take a break from normal duties to fit in time to prioritize wellness. I would like to continue the program around other dimensions of health!

 

Describe another successful activity that you’ve planned around the nine dimensions of wellness
   I have organized team steps challenges - a fun way for some healthy competition and to encourage staff to move! I have also led a group to participate in a variety of different OSU Health & Wellness activities including the Buckeye Wellness 5K walk/run and Take a Lap Around the Buckeye Path to Wellness - These were nice activities to get out and enjoy some fresh air during a hectic workweek.

 

If you could accomplish anything as a Buckeye Wellness Innovator, what would your dream be?

   I would love to engage every member of our unit in some way by providing a wide range of activities and resources from all nine dimensions of wellness. I would also love to create a culture of health & wellness across all of the west campus research community.

 

Describe how a manager or supervisor in your unit/department/building/college has shown support for your Buckeye Wellness Innovator team.

She participates in the events and encourages others to do so! We are also working together to incorporate employee health and wellness into our strategic plan.

 

Please share how your team has overcome barriers to engaging your colleagues and/or students in your wellness efforts.
It starts with getting to know the people within my unit and asking about their interests and hobbies.
