How long has your team been working as a collaborative Buckeye Wellness Innovator group?

Two to four years

Approximately how many people are in your department, unit, building, or college?
60 staff members

Regarding your department or unit's wellness efforts, which of the nine dimensions of wellness has your team addressed?

  • Physical
  • Environmental
  • Social
  • Creative

Describe one or two successful activities that your team planned around the nine dimensions of wellness.

We have created our own respite room called the Wellness P.O.D (Positive Oasis Decompression) for our staff to go and decompress from their work shift. The P.O.D includes yoga mats, aromatherapy, meditation music and healthy snacks.

We have also had several themed events over the past few years to allow staff to "take a break" from their shift:

Examples:

  1. Spring Sports Take a Break - we had Jenga, mini golf, mini bowling etc. Staff would compete against each other.
  2. May "Mocktails" - We had several different fruit drink/ seltzer options for staff to make a yummy beverage, garnish with fresh fruit and fancy umbrellas.

If your team has kept track of participation rates for your activities, what are your approximate averages?

Roughly 60% in attendance.

How does your team communicate wellness events and resources to your colleagues?

Email works best.

If you could accomplish anything as a Buckeye Wellness Innovator team, what would your dream be?

Our staff has been on the front line of the Pandemic and we have had significant burnout and unfortunately significant turnover. We want to help accomplish Mental Wellness to help aid our colleagues.

Describe how a manager or supervisor in your unit/department/building/college has shown support for your Buckeye Wellness Innovator team.

Our management team helps support our staff with coverage so staff can participate and providing additional funding for our events.

What has your lead administrator/dean/vice president/department chair specifically done to show support for your Buckeye wellness Innovator team?

There have been several times when our leadership team has participated in events.

Please share how your team has overcome barriers to engaging your colleagues and/or students in your wellness efforts.

I feel these events have allowed our staff to engage in social activities and take some of the "work" mindset and set it aside.
