Shannon Cole is our Division's Operations manager. She allows us the flexibility to attend BWI Lunch and Learns, Zumba, Yoga, Wellness Walks, Muscles with Dr. Mo and other wellness activities. Our supervisors understand that these activities promote a healthy work environment and we couldn't be more grateful.

What has your lead administrator/dean/vice president/department chair specifically done to show support for your Buckeye Wellness Innovator team?
Our Administrator (Marisha Goldsmith) has been a Buckeye Wellness Innovator since June 2nd 2015. Marisha has encouraged faculty and staff to join her as a Buckeye Wellness Innovator ever since she joined. Also ten minutes before the end of the hour, she motivates us to get up from our desk and jog or walk in place. We even sometimes hold standing and walking meetings

Please share how your team has overcome barriers to engaging your colleagues and/or students in your wellness efforts.
We encourage faculty/staff/np’s/nurses to join all of our wellness activities. No matter your skill level we include everyone. We’ve made a conscious effort to also host Division happy hours to help with physician retention and prevent burn out. At these happy hours we discuss day to day issues we face and how to overcome these barriers.

If you could accomplish anything as a Buckeye Wellness Innovator team, what would your dream be?

We would like our Wellness Committee to become so successful that other Universities and Medical Centers copy our approach.
