Describe one successful activity that your team has planned around the nine dimensions of wellness.
Prior to stay-at-home order, traditionally each B&F Town Hall features a Wellness segment on the agenda, in which we hosted "Just Breathe" demonstrations and featured EAP resources. Due to the pandemic, B&F has hosted monthly virtual Town Halls. Our October town hall featured a virtual pep-rally celebrating the reinstated Big Ten football and the home opener against Nebraska. For Wellness, we featured Health Athlete and Brenda Buffington presented on the evidence-based physical/emotional and mental components supported in Health Athlete. She concluded with an energizing virtual aerobic exercise.

Describe another successful activity that your team planned around the nine dimensions of wellness.
One of our Wellness Committee FY21 goals was to increase the participation of the Virgin Pulse Health App and Your Plan for Health resources throughout the unit. Currently, we are launching a B&F-specific Wellness Challenge on Virgin Pulse titled, "Stress Reduction Healthy Habit Challenge." The Challenge goal acknowledges that stress is inevitable, but simple daily actions can alleviate stress. Every minute of exercise counts. Even taking one minute to stretch, take a deep breath or walk outside are important activities to combat stress, which are included in the B&F Challenge.

How does your team communicate wellness events and resources to your colleagues?

We use our B&F eNews and our monthly B&F Town Halls

Describe how a manager or supervisor in your unit/department/building/college has shown support for your Buckeye Wellness Innovator team.

Doug Huffner, Chief Risk Officer, has been a vocal advocate in the value of our wellness initiatives. Doug's leadership in demonstrating the value of the Health Athlete program has been instrumental in increasing B&F participation across the unit. See Doug's testimonial in the attachment below.

What has your lead administrator/dean/vice president/department chair specifically done to show support for your Buckeye Wellness Innovator team?

Mike Papadakis has strengthened engagement throughout his leadership team, encouraging their support of wellness initiatives and backing the unit-wide goal of providing standing desks for all staff who requested them.

Please share how your team has overcome barriers to engaging your colleagues and/or students in your wellness efforts.
A key barrier currently is our telework arrangement and the isolation resulting. Through Mike's leadership, weekly communications from him provide wellness resources and engagement activities across the unit. Most recently, an example is the virtual holiday "party" which engaged staff in Zoom-games and awards acknowledging creative social digital activities.

If you could accomplish anything as a Buckeye Wellness Innovator team, what would your dream be?

Our dream is to have 100% participation in our activities and a culture of wellness as our ideal state.
