Describe one successful activity that you’ve planned around the nine dimensions of wellness.

Wellness walks on Wednesdays. We get together as a group on Wednesdays to take a 30-minute walk. This has been a fun way to not only incorporate movement, but also to have casual conversation to grow our relationships with one another. I also created a Team for us for the Ohio Heart Walk, and we did a Brutus statue scavenger hunt!

If you have kept track of participation rates for your activities, what are your approximate average attendance?

We have around 50% participation

If you could accomplish anything as a Buckeye Wellness Innovator, what would your dream be?

I would like to play a role in making changes to OSU as a whole, not just the cardiovascular medicine department, so that employees have the power and voice to make real decision regarding their wellness and feel supported in those decisions. I think it is very important for OSU to truly fulfill their mission to be "the healthiest campus."

What has your direct manager or supervisor specifically done to show support for your role as a Buckeye Wellness Innovator?

Brittany has been extremely supportive of all activities I plan as a Buckeye Wellness Innovator. I give a little presentation at our weekly meeting on Fridays, which she is always excited for and has given me the freedom to choose topics I think will interest others. She always participates in our Wellness walks, and encourages other to participate. Any time I have come to her with an idea, she has been on board!! She has also helped me brainstorm ideas as well! She has also encouraged other, even outside our department to reach out to me if they are interested in becoming a BWI.

What has your lead administrator/dean/vice president/department chair specifically done to show support for your role as a Buckeye wellness Innovator?

Lora has been supportive in the same ways as Brittany has, listed above, and also has supported Brittany in a her effort to support me in making wellness a priority for our department.

Please share how you have overcome barriers to engaging your colleagues and/or students.

I have tried different activities, which has been a challenge virtually. I have asked multiple times for people to pass along any ideas or interests they have so I can try to base activities off of everyone's interests. I did have one co worker come to me a week or so ago about the Skittles game. I had never played this before, but she explained what it was. I changed the questions to relate to wellness and we played it the next day and everyone was really engaged! I am really trying to let others know that I am open to their input and will follow through with their suggestions.
